About Bed Pads

Waking up in the middle of the night to an accident from incontinence is hard enough to deal with, why change the sheets too? If it is 2 am and you or your loved one has an accident, do you really want to do laundry right at that moment? You want to get back to sleep as soon as possible. The quickest way to deal with it is with a bed pad.

Depending on the nature of the incontinence, you will have several choices on bed pads. Is this a temporary problem from a surgery or other related issue? If this is the case then you may want to go with the disposable bed pads, they are highly absorbent have a polypropylene backing to ensure protection against leaks and are easily changed in the middle of the night without too much disturbance.

The more long term incontinence issues may need to be handled with a larger solution, the reusable bed pad, they come in small sizes to fit on top of the sheet or in full sizes to cover the entire mattress. However, you decide to protect your mattress either under your sheet or above it, the backing is protecting you and the top filling is absorbing any moisture to help keep you dry and comfortable.

All the bed pads are lightweight and breathable and allow moisture to be trapped without creating a bad odor. They are economical and efficient in their purpose.

Nursing home and hospitals use them to protect the mattress from stains and from leaving an unsanitary environment for the next patient. If hospitals had to clean mattresses or even replace them after just one or two patients out health care cost would rise considerably.

The embarrassment that comes with incontinence should not also carry a high price tag, after all being dry and staying dry is a comfort we all take for granted. The bed pads are priced reasonably and they are affordable enough for not only the hospitals and nursing homes to carry them but for you at home.

When you are staying in the hospital after a major surgery you are usually given pain medication or sleeping pills to help you through the night and may not wake up right away if you become wet, the pads will help absorb the moisture and keep you dry until you are alert enough to deal with the problem. The nurse can come in and help you change, remove the old bed pad and replace it with another for sponging you off if you are incapable of taking a shower on your own and then leave you with a dry bed pad and you were not disturbed to much, and the nurse did not have to move you and strip your bedding and replace it before allowing you back in the comforts of your bed.

The bed pads have many uses, but the main goal to keep the person on top of them and the mattress below them dry is met with very high standards.
