About Hospital Sheets

When you arrive in your hospital room and look at the curtains that seem to be a little too busy, the television anchored on the wall aimed at your bed and the rolling nightstand with the extending arm for you to use as a meal tray, the last thing you probably notice, if you notice them at all, are the hospital sheets.

The crisp, new look to the hospital sheets are doing their job if they are unnoticed by you, we seem to only observe things that are out of sorts or out of the ordinary. The television anchored to the wall will be noticed, because at home we do not have our televisions on metal arms extending out of the wall. The curtains are easily noticed due to the fact they cover the large windows in our rooms and the materials are patterned and sometimes a little tacky, the colors bring our eyes to their attention as soon as we enter the room.

The sheets if kept properly, cleaned and pressed will go unnoticed; they would be nothing odd about them so they would not be a focus of your observations of the room. A lot of work can go into preparing a room for a new patient, along with a lot of though process.

Hospitals have been flipping rooms for patients for years and have found the best ways to do so without fault. The sheets although a seemingly small part of the room, can be one of the more difficult tasks to achieve with perfection.

The television will stay put and with the exception of a minor repair occasionally, it creates no work to get the room ready for the next patient. The curtains will only need to be taken down and cleaned a few times a year. Most of the items in the room are permanent fixtures and there is no need to replace them for the next patient.

The hospital sheets however, are one thing in the room that will be replaced each and every time a patient arrives, and if your stay is lengthily will need to be replaced for you during your stay. The work load created by laundering the sheets can be overwhelming, that is why the hospitals tend to stay with the sheets that hold up to high heats and can be very durable and long lasting.

The materials are pressed in the extreme heat of the dryers, thus requiring no ironing or pressing after they are taken out of the dryer; the sheets also are made strong enough to handle bleaching over and over again so as to keep the fresh, clean, new look to them.

The thought process that went into deciding which hospital sheets work the best took time, but now that it has been decided and the sheets chosen, the work has become easier and the time it takes to get a room ready for a new patient has decreased. This makes it easier on the staff, and the patient less stressed, no one is waiting for a room and the staff is not backed up with laundry.
