About Wee Wee Pads For Pets

When you bring your puppy home for the first time you are so excited and so is he…maybe a little too excited, as your grandmothers woven rug gets soiled while he welcomes himself to his new home. Puppy training is difficult and time consuming, many of our things are ruined during the process, and we have to endure the horrible smell of the dog’s messes. It can be embarrassing and frustrating, making that cute little puppy you were so in love with not so cute anymore.

The best training tactic has always been paper training, you lay the paper down and train the puppy to go only on it, while moving it closer and closer to the door you are teaching him to finally use the restroom outside. This tactic works great but can leave a bad mess, paper will rip once it is soiled and your carpet underneath gets dirty. While the method works, the tools used for it are not the best.

Wee Wee Pads, similar to the adult bed pads have helped immensely in the ability to train a puppy with the paper method but without the mess. Wee Wee pads have an absorbent material surrounded with a polypropylene backing to help prevent leaks. The pads are very durable and will not rip, leaving you with a dirty mess to clean up.

You use the wee wee pads the same way the old paper method was used. Lay the pad down in the area the puppy is kept and after he has eaten you place him on the pad, anytime you see him sniffing around the room looking for a place to go, place him on the pad. Since taking him outside every time may not be as effective since he is being carried, the pads are creating a pattern, which he will learn to follow eventually on his own.

Once the puppy is used to the idea of going to the pad when he needs to relieve himself, you can move the pad a little closer to the door you want him to use to go outside. He will get better and better at finding his pad and will train himself to go only there. After he has made his way all the way to the door you can put the pad on the other side of it, he will then be forced to paw or scratch at the door to get to his pad. At this point, you allow him to go a few times on his pad outside in the grass then take it away all together.

Your puppy is as cute as he was on the day you brought him home; he no longer makes messes in your house. Your grandmother’s rug has been steam cleaned, along with the rest of your house and the smells of puppy disasters are gone. The Wee Wee pads make life easier for you and your new puppy while housetraining him. So now, after all the hard work, you can enjoy watching him grow.
